Thialf, the largest deepwater construction vessel (DCV), operated by Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland SE is capable of a tandem lift of 14,200 t (15,600 short tons). Its two cranes provide for a depth reach lowering capability as well as a heavy lift capacity to install topsides.

In this Video the Subsea Pump Control Module (PCM) was safely lifted onto Draugen on May 18, 2016. The 220 ton control module is the topside part of the subsea pump system, which is planned to be commissioned later in 2016. The pump will boost production from the Draugen subsea wells. The control module lifting operation was performed by the heavy lift capacity vessel “Thialf”, and the plan was minutely detailed well in advance of the operation. The Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea is operated by Shell.
