The City of Winston-Salem will hold a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday 4/14/16 for equipment operators to fill a shortage within its workforce. The job fair will be held at the Goodwill Career Connections Center at 2701 University Parkway.

The city needs to hire more than 40 equipment operators capable of operating backhoes, loaders, excavators and other construction equipment. Eligible operators must have a Class A or Class B commercial driver’s license, or have a CDL permit.

Attendees will be assessed on their knowledge of construction equipment and will be asked to demonstrate operating skills. Those who successfully complete the assessment will be invited to fill out job applications on the spot. Attendees should bring their CDL license or permit.

Representatives from the city’s Human Resources Department will explain the city’s benefits plan and answer questions about the hiring process and working for the city. Representatives of city departments and divisions that employ equipment operators will be available to discuss their job opportunities.
