The Altec AC30-53T is a tractor-mounted telescopic boom truck crane designed for high versatility, serving as both a 30-ton-capacity crane and a heavy-haul tractor. While no longer in production, this model continues to serve crane rental companies and contractors. 

3-section non-insulated boom and heavy-duty lifting capabilities: 

• Maximum Lifting Capacity: 60, 000 lbs (30 US tons).
• Main Boom Length: 53 feet.
• Maximum Tip Height: 63 feet.
• Winch Capacity: 15, 000 lbs with a 2-speed high-performance piston winch.
• Rotation: 360-degree continuous rotation package available. 

Safety & Operational Features

The AC30-53T is equipped with advanced safety systems to manage loads and workspace safely: 

• LMAP (Load Moment & Area Protection): This system uses outrigger positions to automatically select the appropriate load chart and prevents the boom from swinging into zones with insufficient capacity.
• Integrated Controls: Features outrigger downjack controls at the operator station and extra-wide walk-through control stations for safer trailer access.
• Flexible Stowing: Uses a lift cylinder stop instead of a traditional boom stow, allowing the boom to be stowed forward or rearward without moving a boom rest.
• Outriggers: Employs primary out-and-down outriggers with a 24-foot span and auxiliary modified A-frame outriggers with a 17.9-foot span. 

Tractor & Chassis Specifications

Designed for "heavy haul" duty, the unit integrates seamlessly with semi-trailers: 

• Fifth Wheel: Features a 51-inch fifth wheel height, described as the lowest in class, with a 36-inch sliding travel.
• Towing Capacity: Includes a heavy-duty pintle hitch rated for 36, 000 lbs.
• Chassis Requirements: The minimum recommended GVWR is 65, 400 lbs, typically mounted on chassis such as the Peterbilt 567 or Kenworth T880,  with high-horsepower engines such as the Cummins X15.
