Seaway Heavy Lifting installs Dong Energy’s 573MW Race Bank wind farm substation

The first substation topside and jacket have been installed at Dong Energy’s 573MW Race Bank wind farm off the Norfolk coast.

Seaway Heavy Lifting vessel Oleg Strashnov installed the 1150 tonne topside and up to 1300 tonne jacket.

The structures were fabricated by Iemants and Engie Fabricom.

The pair are working on a second jacket and topside for the project which will be loaded out in early 2017.

Monopile foundation installation is well underway at the site where GeoSea jack-up Innovation is tasked with laying the 90 Bilfinger-made tubulars.

Race Bank will feature 91 Siemens 6MW turbines to be installed by A2Sea in 2017.
