The four-axle, 90-ton USt lifting capacity Terex Roadmaster 9000 is a telescopic boom mobile hydraulic boom truck crane designed for excellent highway mobility, quick positioning, rigging, and quick in-and-out of lifting jobsites. This crane features a two-engine concept with a lower carrier Detroit Diesel DD13 engine rated at 450 horsepower and an upper crane superstructure engine rated at 175 horsepower (Tier 4-compliant). This crane also features the unique X-4-Point outrigger pattern, which is a cross-section design.

• Mobility: This crane allows easy road transport across the U.S. and features air suspension at the front and rear for smooth travel.
• Operator Comfort and Safety: Both the carrier and superstructure cabs have heating and air conditioning. The superstructure also includes a rated capacity indicator (IC-1 system) to inform the operator of the lift status and warn of potential issues.
• Operational Control: Features include fully proportional controls, full-powered steering, and a comprehensive dual-circuit pneumatic braking system with a 4-way antilock brake system and exhaust brake for safety.
• Efficiency: The upper engine powers only crane functions, resulting in low fuel consumption during operation.
• Additional Equipment: This crane comes equipped with primary and auxiliary winches, a rooster sheave, a 75-ton hook block, and a 12-ton headache ball.

The two-engine concept crane was designed, built, and engineered in Germany by Terex Demag GmbH @ the Zweibrucken Crane plant, now owned and operated by Tadano DEMAG GmbH with the upper crane derived from the Demag AC 100 crane now owned by Tadano. 

This crane featured a fully automatic Allison HD4560 transmission with 6 forward and 1 reverse gears, allowing the crane operator to control the crane and avoid hazardous situations. The brake system consists of a dual-circuit pneumatic service brake with drum brakes on all wheels, a 4-way antilock brake system, an additional exhaust brake, and a spring-applied parking brake. Full-power steering provides the operator with more control.

The crane outrigger stabilization system has a four-point design with a 5th front outrigger jack. The outriggers are manually levelled and come with an electronic pressure indicator that informs the crane operator when they are fully extended. 4 outrigger pads, every 24 inches in diameter, are included with the Roadmaster series of cranes. The cab of the carrier and the superstructure have similar features. Air conditioning, heating, and radio are included in both. The superstructure is different in that it contains multiple operator aids. A rated capacity indicator informs the operator of each lift's status and warns if the boom is failing. A crane data logger stores all crane records in a central, easy-to-access location.

The ROADMASTER series by Terex (Demag) also includes the ROADMASTER 5300, a 100t metric ton 5-axle truck crane designed for the European crane market as a key target. It was designed to offer highway mobility and significant lifting power on a commercially built chassis.
