Aerial Access lifts come in two main designs, Articulating booms, and Telescopic (Straight) booms. In addition, scissor lifts and mast lifts are very popular.  Aerial Lift Devices mounted on Trucks are (Commonly known as Bucket Trucks).  Other aerial lift devices are mounted on Crawler Tracks, wheels, and trailers. Boom lifts are self-propelled and have telescopic booms and articulating booms.  Bucket Trucks are gas/diesel-powered. Some smaller lifts are battery-powered electric.  Some Manufacturers have developed Aerial Device models that have Rough Terrain capabilities and are available to traverse the toughest of terrain.
