The bespoke boom system ensures the LR 1600/2 is an excellent crane for the erection of wind turbines and other tall structures. 

A total of 223 LR 1600/2 were produced over a thirteen-year period and the successor to this model is the Liebherr LR 1700-1.0 which offers more power and lifting capacity throughout the range of the load chart.
