A telescopic handler, also called a telehandler, teleporter, or a boom lift is a lifting device used in agriculture and industry. It is like a forklift but has a telescopic boom, making it a hybrid of a crane and a forklift.  At the end of the boom operator can fit several attachments, such as a bucket, pallet forks, or a muck grab.  In North America, telehandlers are sometimes referred to as cherry pickers,  as that name can refer to any piece of equipment that has telescopic boom such as a Rough Terrain Crane. 

The most common attachment for a telehandler is a pallet fork to move loads to and from places unreachable for a conventional forklift. Telehandlers can remove palletized loads from a trailer and place the load on rooftops or other high places. 

In agriculture a common attachment for a telehandler is a bucket or bucket grab, to move hay and other types of agriculture material from places unreachable for a 'conventional machine' such as a wheeled loader. On farms, telehandlers can reach directly into a high-sided trailer or hopper

A telehandler can have a crane jib attachment to the end of the boom to lift low capacity loads.  Additional attachments are dirt buckets, grain buckets, rotators, and power booms. 

Telehandlers can be equipped with front and rear stabilizer outriggers which increase the lifting capability of the machine while stationary.  Recently 'Roto' machines have been introduced to the marketplace; the upper cab rotates on a turntable and is similar to a small crane.
