The Grove RT540E is a 40-ton (35 mt) lifting capacity with a 32 ft. - 102 ft. (9.8 m -31.0 m) 4-section, full power boom, and 26 ft. - 45 ft. (7.9 m - 13.7 m) offsettable telescopic swing-away extension jib.   Dual-axis electric joystick controllers, Full-frame decking, Rounded cab design, and a 60 hp (119 kW) Cummins diesel engine (tier III).

The RT540E was first released in 2007, later production models come with the Crane Control System (CCS) , which offers a user-friendly interface, two full graphic displays mounted vertically for better visibility, and a jog dial for easier data input. A recently introduced load sensing hydraulic system was also added to maximize the cranes' efficiency by utilizing piston pumps for crane functions.

The 40-ton RT540E provides optimal lifting capacity in a compact package and the 8’-6” chassis allows easy transport, thanks to the narrow width and low height.
